In the sprawling, half-timbered mansion in the affluent suburb of Swinly Dean, Aristide Leonides lies dead from barbiturate poisoning. An accident? Not likely. In fact, suspicion has already fallen on his luscious widow, a cunning beauty fifty years his junior, set to inherit a sizeable fortune, and rumored to be carrying on with a strapping young tutor comfortably ensconced in the family estate. But criminologist Charles Hayward is casting his own doubts on the innocence of the entire Leonides brood. He knows them intimately. Criticize Of Books Crooked House
What an excellent story! I loved the characters, the family was amazingly twisted. Any of them could have committed the murder. I did not guess the actual murderer, didn't figure it out. I loved the writing, the dialogue. Christie was a master storyteller!Crooked House is the first Agatha Christie novel that I have read. It won't be the last.

Read this in one sitting. Couldn't put it down! Has quickly become one of my favorite Christie's. Loved the plot and twist at the very end, I can definitely see why this was one of Christie's own favorites. I also find it fascinating that the publishers wanted her to change the ending, but she refused. So glad she didn't. I don't think it would have been the same if it would have been changed.

Another perfect Christie! She herself says in the introduction that this is one of her favourite stories and that she had a lot of fun writing it. She almost always keeps me guessing and this one was no exception.

I am going to try and make it through all of the Christie's this year and this was a great start. I was pleasantly surprised to learn who the murderer was in this pithy, little story.Christie will keep her title as the queen with this one!

3.5 rounded up to 4-stars for me. I was right! I actually worked this one out before the end and am pretty pleased with myself. This had a larger cast of characters than her previous book that I read and for a while, I struggled. Never fear though, it is another good read and I shall certainly be reading more of her books in the future!I say no more, as I think it better if you haven't read it to work things out for yourself. At least it was possible to figure out the killer this time without
