Description In Favor Of Books By Any Other Name

Nobody can know the truth—her life depends on it. A tale of family, identity, and trust, about a girl struggling with life in the witness protection program.

I picked up the book and thumbed through the pages. Names in alphabetical order, names with meanings, names I knew, names I'd never heard of. How to pick? Nothing that would stand out, nothing that would link me to the past—those were the instructions. The past. As if everything that had gone before this moment was buried already.

Holly is 15 years old, but she's only been "Holly" for a matter of months. Because of something that happened, she and her family have had to enter witness protection and have all assumed new identities. All, that is, except her sister Katie, who is autistic. Starting at a new school mid-year is hard enough at the best of times, and Holly has no clue who she is anymore. Lonely and angry, she reaches out to friends—new and old. But one wrong move will put all their lives in danger.

Comment On Regarding Books By Any Other Name
At the start of this book, I found it quite annoying because I really disliked Holly, the narrator, and thought her world view was quite unrealistic. However, I liked the direction her character arc went in, and it made up for the initial annoying-ness. On the whole, I found this to be a really interesting concept and an enjoyable read, with an ending that was just a bit too rushed.

It started off really well. I loved Katie and even though we never net her in this book I loved Katya too. The ending was pretty ridiculous.

I'd give this book a 3.5About 4 years ago I read Laura Jarratt's book 'Skin Deep' and devoured it at this time (it was in my mid teens) but now being an "adult" this book 'By Any Other Name' seemed a little to young for me after I've read a couple of pages, BUT the book is very good! IF you're not too old (IMO).What I mean by that is just that you sense that she's only 15 years old. The way the story is written, and her thoughts about boys is totally different if you've been reading YA books

It was a very curious little book with a huge secret I almost couldn't wait to find out. The first 50 pages or so just made me really curious. The middle was quite slow where Holly was trying to figure out her identity and such and I couldn't really see where the book was heading. However the ending, oh my god, that fast paced, ending was superb. There was about 40 pages left or something and I could not see how everything could be resolved in that short amount of time!! It was brilliant, yet I

This is the second book by Laura Jarratt and like her first title 'Skin Deep', explores different territory to many other contemporary young-adult novels currently on the market. The main theme is about making sense of who you are as a person and developing your own identity, rather than being labelled by everyone else around you. The main character Holly struggles to do exactly this, when her family is entered into the witness protection programme and she has to leave everything familiar

It was ok... I thought Louisa/Holly was a little unbelievable and I didn't really like the relationship with Joe, way too cliche. I also hated when he called her 'babe' before they were together -_- And the end was pretty unbelievable I thought too. Couldn't wait to finish it.

The writing was a little bit clumsy at times, but I don't even care because the story was so good. I raced through this book, eager to see how Katya's story unfolded and learn what had happened in Cornwall. Though wow, Holly was so incredibly stupid at times that I felt she deserved to be found. Even after all the warnings from her Witness Protection Liaison Officer, she still went ahead and emailed her best friend? I thought she cared about her family's safety more than that, especially given
