I would certainly say this was the best out of the four books in Dekker's "Circle Series." The story Green is meant to parallel the Bible's book of Revelation. We come to the end, or as Dekker puts it through one of his characters, it could very well be the beginning. The main plot of the story revolves around the main protagonist, Thomas Hunter who is looking to save his son from his rebellion against Elyon (the God figure in this story) and is seeking to repair the Circle tribe that is tangledI was intrigued by the concept of a book that could be both the beginning and the end of a series. Would it be able to be completely accessible to new readers and introduce them to an entire world while also tying up loose ends and bringing an epic sense of fulfillment for those who are ending their journey? How do you be both a finale and an introduction? And if this book is going to launch a series that it is also ending, does that basically mean that nothing in the series will really be
Today I'm reviewing Green by Ted Dekker. Green is Ted Dekkers fourth book in the Circle Trilogy. Green is book 0 which is supposed to complete a circle creating a series where there really isn't an end or beginning. The jacket claims you can jump into the series by starting with any of the four books, but I found I was lost having not read the first three books. Even though it took me a while to get into the book, I did enjoy Green. It was fast paced and a great story of good against evil. The
This book totally destroyed the Circle Trilogy. I hated it. I wish Dekker had left this series alone. If you read the Circle novels, do not read this one.
This book was . . . . a huge letdown, a major disappointment, a horrible "ending" for The Circle series. I might have rated it two stars, but for the ending of the book itself. It seems pretty clear the author was trying to shoehorn this novel into the original trilogy and transforming the four books into a "cycle" of some sort. It was pretty poorly down to be honest. I cannot in clear conscience, recommend this book to anyone. If you want to read The Circle, leave this book out and enjoy the
Ted Dekker says you can read the circle trilogy from Black to Green or from Green to White. I read it in the order of Black, Red, White, Green and honestly think it would be very hard to read it Green, Black, Red, White. Dekker really threw me for a loop in the last half of Green. This was one of my favorite Dekker books ever! It was absolutely amazing. The book brings together the cast from the Circle Series and the Paradise Books. There's not as much action as there is in most Dekker books, so if you read him for the action, you might not enjoy this one as much. Basically, the entire book was an epilogue (and also a prologue) for his other series. Which makes it great if you love books with lots of backstory and intricate plot twists.
