I loved this book from cover to cover and have been really contemplating the way a one-word prayer can affect one's heart and ministry in this life. I want to be an 'anything' kind of girl, and I appreciate and respect the example Jennie has set in pursuing God and what he desires in us. It's just a word on a paper, but it's a lifetime choice that can make all the difference. You in?

We all need to do our anythings. They dont necessarily have to be big things or things in other countries or costly, but we do need to listen to God and give what we are called to give. Everyone has fears and no matter how big or how small, we can overcome them.Jennie Allen draws you into her life with fears that I would imagine lots of people having. She doesnt write about miraculous things that most will never experience. These are things that when you read them, you think this could be myIn college, we were sold out for Christ, ready to do whatever He asked. Then life hits. We get married and have a family of our own. All we want is comfort and safety, a life of blessing with as little struggle as possible. And we stop praying "anything." This book was a hard read for me, not because of how it was written, but because of the content. Jennie Allen challenges all her readers to begin praying "anything" again.... And that is scary to do. Anything hadnt cost me much yet, really. (Page 182) Pretty much sums up the book for me. Look, I love the message, but her personal experience and story dont hold much weight in backing it up. All I kept thinking was, you made a bold leap in faith, inspired by a young girl who truly gave up her cozy American life to live in Africa, and the result was your dreams came true? You became an author and Bible study maker and speaker, famous for IF Gatherings, and then adopted two children from Rwanda?
I love the concept of praying "Anything" that Allen lays out in her book. For the last couple years I have been a huge fan of her work through if:gathering and her if:tables. However, I did not feel this book delivered at a high level. I didn't want to keep reading, and I often struggled to finish a chapter. Allen does have great personal stories and examples to pull from, and is an effective persuasive speaker. I do feel more inclined to surrender my life in bigger ways than I might have before
When "Anything" was first released, I quickly bought it. By the time I was finished with this book, every chapter was dog-earred, highlighted, underlined, notes on the side, spine was well bent and I was pretty sure I would have to buy another book if I wanted to loan it out to anyone since the copy I had was "well personalized" to the point that it wouldn't make much sense to others due to the amount of reading and marking I had done.Now an updated version has been released and although I
I received this book from the author for the purpose of this review. All comments and opinions are entirely my own.Jennie Allen has a beautiful passion for God. I love how she makes herself transparent so that she can be relatable to her readers, but I believe that its her boldness in her calls to action that really caused me to love this book.As I read, I wanted to underline and highlight pretty much every sentence! It was that good! Her passion is evident in her writing and her faith is real.
This book absolutely wrecked my world! All about surrendering to what God has for you no matter the cost. I encourage you to pick up this book and let God stir your heart to letting Him use you.
